Export Product Images downloads your Shopify product images, videos and 3D models, or your Content > Files library, as one ZIP file. This guide takes you from install to your first download.
What do I need before I start?
Only the app. It reads your store, so you do not connect any other service. The free plan covers 100 exported files per month, which is enough for a test run on your real catalog.
How do I run my first export?
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store and open it from your Shopify admin.
- Open Export product files. Under File types, Include images is ticked by default. Tick Include videos or Include 3D models if you want them.
- Optional: narrow down the products with the filters (status, vendor, collection, creation date). Each filter you add narrows the result further. See exporting product media.
- Press Preview files. Nothing is exported yet.
- On the preview page, check the list of files. Choose a File name format and a Folder name format (see file names and folders). Remove any file you do not want with the X next to it.
- Press Export files. The export runs in the background, so you can close the app.
- When the job finishes, open the job page and press Download, or use the link in the email you receive. The link works for 7 days.
What does the ZIP file look like?
With the SKU_position file name format and the SKU folder name format, a product with SKU TSHIRT-BLK-M and two images downloads like this:
your-store_2026-10-07-09-30_ab12.zip
└── TSHIRT-BLK-M/
├── TSHIRT-BLK-M_1.jpg
└── TSHIRT-BLK-M_2.jpg
The file inside the ZIP keeps the original quality that Shopify holds.
Is the free plan enough for a test?
Yes. Previews are free and unlimited, and only files that end up in a ZIP count toward your monthly limit. The free plan exports 100 files per month. See plan limits and downloads for what counts as a file.
What should I read next?
- Exporting product media: file types, filters and options.
- File names and folders: all 10 file name formats and the folder layouts.
- Exporting Content > Files: back up your whole Files library.
- Troubleshooting: empty previews, missing videos, expired links.
